We were so happy to see so many WTC Alumni! People reconnected and reminisced about their time at WTC. 🤠💙💚 We wanted to especially thank the Western Texas College Athletics/HPE Team, Coach Sarah, Coach Bri, the WTC Coliseum, Studio 92, the WTC Foundation, TDIndustries, Inc., Great Western Dining Service, Inc. and Western Texas College Alumni for their hard work turning the night into something special.

It was an atmosphere that felt like pure Westerner pride. 💙💚

A respected leader and dedicated public servant, Terry Don McDowell was named Fire Chief of the Snyder Fire Department after faithfully serving as a lieutenant. His leadership reflected strength, commitment, and deep care for the community he protected.

Those who knew him remember not only his service, but his character: steady, dependable, and devoted to others. This month, we honor his life and the lasting impact he made on our community.

We had a terrific visit from Barry and Cindy Blalock today! They were celebrating he anniversary of the first date on February 6, 1975. Barry drove his 1970 Chevelle to pick up Cindy (Cowart) at West Hall on the west side. Both were freshmen at WTC, and Cindy played on the Dusters Women's Basketball Team for Dr. Sid Simpson. They got married in January between semesters of their sophomore year. Thanks for stopping by today and sharing your story!

Today (post from January 31, 2026), we take a moment to celebrate the life and legacy of the incredible Tana Springer! Born on January 21, 1961, Tana's time with us was all too short, as she tragically passed away on May 16, 1981. Despite her untimely passing, her memory lives on through the countless lives she touched. Her parents, Mike and Connie Otto, established the Tana Springer Memorial Scholarship in 1996. If you were fortunate enough to have known Tana, we'd love to hear your favorite stories and memories of her. Please share them with us and let's keep her memory alive! ❤️

We celebrate J.M. "Mule" Kayser today! He was born on January 5, 1911, on a farm near Weatherford. Mr. Kayser was a flight instructor for the U.S. Air Force between 1941 and 1945. He later owned his own flying school. His journey in 1949 to Snyder as varsity line coach for Speedy Moffett was just the start. In 1952, he became vice principal and was an original faculty member at Western Texas College, where he taught social studies and history. J.M. Kayser remained active in the Snyder community until his death in 1997. His devotion to learning, community, and WTC is what drives us to strive for excellence. Today, we celebrate the trailblazing spirit of Patsy Jones Fee! Born on January 2, 1929, and raised in Fluvanna, she shattered glass ceilings as the first woman to earn a degree in Animal Husbandry from Texas Tech. Her legacy lives on through the Patsy Jones Fee Scholarship, established by her son James Aaron III, which inspires a new generation of women to pursue their passions in agriculture and make a meaningful impact. ✨

Today, we honor the remarkable legacy of Bill and Finnie Seale, who embarked on a journey of love and commitment that started in Vernon, Texas, on January 2, 1948. As pillars of their community, they dedicated their lives to serving others through their funeral homes in Turkey and Matador, and later in Snyder, where they inspired countless individuals until their retirement in 1997. Their visionary spirit led to the creation of the Directors Investment Group, a network of nine companies designed to support those in grief and sorrow. Bill and Finnie's passion for education and community development fueled their involvement with Snyder ISD, Western Texas College, and the City of Snyder, leaving a lasting impact on the community. We had a visit from WTC Alum Alexandria Welch ('25) yesterday afternoon! She stopped by to see our dedicated Theater Professor, Ray Newton. After graduation, Alex transferred to McMurry University in Abilene. She designed the lighting for their last theater production, Moonlight and Magnolias, and is preparing for their next production, Romeo & Juliet. We were glad to see you!

We were honored to welcome WTC alum Viviana Vasquez ('25) for a visit today! Viviana chose to serve our country after graduation and joined the United States Marine Corps. Her rank is E2, Private 1st Class, and her current assignment is recruiting. Congratulations, Viviana! We love seeing what WTC Alumni are doing!

Today, we honor the remarkable life of Doris Steadman, born December 29, 1932! As one of five siblings, she grew up on a farm near Eola, instilling in her a strong work ethic and sense of community. Her parents, Gaston and Mamie (Edgington) Steadman, nurtured her growth. Doris pursued her passion for education at San Angelo College and the University of Arkansas, earning her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. For over 40 years, she dedicated her heart and soul to Borden County ISD, inspiring countless students and shaping the minds of young people. Even in retirement, she continued to uplift and support her students, a true testament to her selfless spirit. Though she may be gone, her legacy lives on through the memorial scholarship in her name at Western Texas College, empowering future generations to reach new heights. Mrs. Steadman may have left us on July 25, 2015, but her impact will be felt forever. 💫

Today, we take a moment to celebrate the remarkable life of Mort Ewing, Jr., a shining star who left an indelible mark on our community. Born on December 25, 1951, Mort's life was tragically cut short in 1987 when he passed away at the tender age of 35, following a devastating automobile accident. Despite his untimely departure, Mort's legacy lives on through his incredible achievements and the countless lives he touched. As the dedicated manager of the Snyder Chamber of Commerce, Mort worked tirelessly to promote local businesses and foster a sense of community. His selflessness didn't stop there, as he also served on the advisory committee for Senior Citizens, Inc., ensuring that the voices of our elderly population were heard and valued. Moreover, Mort's commitment to giving back was evident in his role as the director of United Way, where he worked to create positive change in the lives of those around him. In the wake of his passing, Mort's father, Mort Ewing, Sr., established the Mort Ewing, Jr. Memorial Scholarship on June 4, 1987, as a testament to his son's enduring spirit and generosity. This scholarship has since provided opportunities for countless individuals to pursue their dreams, keeping Mort's memory alive and thriving. As we reflect on Mort's life, we are reminded of the profound impact one person can have on the world. Happy Birthday, Paul Pressey! 🎉 Mr. Pressey was born on December 24, 1958, and in 1979, he helped lead his Western Texas College team to a thrilling victory, winning the NJCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. This incredible achievement showcased his exceptional skills on the court, which eventually earned him a spot as a professional basketball player for an impressive eleven years. During his playing career, he had the opportunity to play alongside some of the greatest players of his time, creating unforgettable memories and learning valuable lessons that would later benefit him in his coaching career. Paul was also an assistant coach for seven different NBA teams, including the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Lakers, where he worked with talented players and coaches, further developing his coaching skills. He and his wonderful wife, Elizabeth, have been blessed with four beautiful children, who are undoubtedly the center of their universe. As we celebrate Paul's special day, we acknowledge his remarkable journey, his dedication to the sport, and the positive impact he's had on the lives of those around him. We celebrate her legacy on this special day to commemorate and marvel at the wonderfully giving person she was to her community and beyond. They spent several years working tirelessly as ranchers in Seminole, Texas. Little did they know, their lives were about to take a dramatic turn when oil was discovered on their property, changing the course of their lives forever. As their fortunes grew, so did their generosity, and they made significant contributions to various worthy causes throughout their lives, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and compassion.
