We're honoring the Palette Club of Snyder Scholarship today! The Palette Club established a scholarship for art students on this day in 1989. Their gift helps develop artists at WTC, because where would we be without art? Do you recognize any members of the Palette Club in the photo?

We're honoring Roy & Geleska Baze on their anniversary today! Mr. Baze, a retired Exxon employee, served on the WTC Board of Trustees starting in 1983. He and Geleska established the Roy A. and Geleska Jean Baze Drama Scholarship in 1989 with matching funds from Exxon. By funding the scholarship, the Bazes hoped to develop a balance of fine arts in the community. The work of Jim Rambo in the WTC Drama Department and Jerry Worsham at Snyder High School inspired them to pave the way for theater students.
It's amazing when community members inspire other community members! Do you have a special memory of the Bazes? Were you a recipient of their scholarship? Share with us in the comments! We love to hear wonderful stories about our donors.

A big thank you to the staff at the Texas Tech Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library! They recently finished digitizing all the Western Texas College newspapers. What an accomplishment! We are so appreciative. You can view the collection at https://wtcedu.me/41nTfOg

We're celebrating the life of Terry Don McDowell today! Mr. McDowell joined the Snyder Fire Department in 1972 as a volunteer and became a full-time fireman. The department promoted him to lieutenant in 1980 and then named him chief in 1982. Mr. McDowell also served as the city's emergency and civil defense director. He passed in 1998, but his legacy lives on through the students at WTC: Mrs. McDowell and the Snyder Firemen's Auxiliary established a memorial scholarship in his name in 2016.
