Her parents, Gaston and Mamie (Edgington) Steadman, nurtured her growth. Doris pursued her passion for education at San Angelo College and the University of Arkansas, earning her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. For over 40 years, she dedicated her heart and soul to Borden County ISD, inspiring countless students and shaping the minds of young people. Even in retirement, she continued to uplift and support her students, a true testament to her selfless spirit. Though she may be gone, her legacy lives on through the memorial scholarship in her name at Western Texas College, empowering future generations to reach new heights. Mrs. Steadman may have left us on July 25, 2015, but her impact will be felt forever. 💫

Born on December 25, 1951, Mort's life was tragically cut short in 1987 when he passed away at the tender age of 35, following a devastating automobile accident. Despite his untimely departure, Mort's legacy lives on through his incredible achievements and the countless lives he touched. As the dedicated manager of the Snyder Chamber of Commerce, Mort worked tirelessly to promote local businesses and foster a sense of community. His selflessness didn't stop there, as he also served on the advisory committee for Senior Citizens, Inc., ensuring that the voices of our elderly population were heard and valued. Moreover, Mort's commitment to giving back was evident in his role as the director of United Way, where he worked to create positive change in the lives of those around him. In the wake of his passing, Mort's father, Mort Ewing, Sr., established the Mort Ewing, Jr. Memorial Scholarship on June 4, 1987, as a testament to his son's enduring spirit and generosity. Happy Birthday, Paul Pressey! 🎉 Mr. Pressey was born on December 24, 1958, and in 1979, he helped lead his Western Texas College team to a thrilling victory, winning the NJCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. This incredible achievement showcased his exceptional skills on the court, which eventually earned him a spot as a professional basketball player for an impressive eleven years. During his playing career, he had the opportunity to play alongside some of the greatest players of his time, creating unforgettable memories and learning valuable lessons that would later benefit him in his coaching career. Paul was also an assistant coach for seven different NBA teams, including the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Lakers, where he worked with talented players and coaches, further developing his coaching skills. He and his wonderful wife, Elizabeth, have been blessed with four beautiful children, who are undoubtedly the center of their universe. His marriage to Wanda Lowry on October 14, 1944, marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to love, service, and transformation, culminating in their relocation to Snyder in 1953, where he distinguished himself as Superintendent of Snyder ISD. Dr. Clinton's visionary leadership as the founding and inaugural president of Western Texas College for eleven years paved the way for a brighter future, followed by his ascension to Executive Director of the Texas Public Community College Association in Austin, Texas. The Dr. Robert L. Clinton Memorial Scholarship, established by his loving wife in 2007, continues to inspire and empower students, a lasting testament to his enduring legacy of positive change.

Today (November 11, 2025), we honor the extraordinary life of John Archer Fagin, a remarkable example of dedication, perseverance, and community spirit! Born on November 11, 1929, John's remarkable journey took him from graduating from University High School at the age of 16 to earning a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1954. His bravery and service in the United States Army during the Korean War earned him the Good Conduct Medal for Foreign Service. As a devoted family man, John married Martha Ann Benning in 1956 and went on to raise three children. His tireless commitment to public service saw him serve on the Snyder City Council, as Mayor of Snyder, assisted in the creation of the Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS), and as a Trustee at Western Texas College, driving positive change and growth in his community. John's numerous awards, including the C. T. McLaughlin Oil Award and the Bill Vestal Mayor's Award, are a testament to his unwavering dedication to making a difference. Though he may be gone, his legacy lives on, inspiring us to strive for a brighter tomorrow.

Henry and Dollie Brice's love story began on November 8, 1905, and flourished until Henry's passing in 1960, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and a family that grew exponentially: three children, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Brice's entrepreneurial spirit shone bright as he operated a cotton gin in Snyder until 1924 and served as a city alderman during the 1920s. His pursuit of justice led him to establish a law practice in 1935, and he was appointed county judge, a role he held with integrity until 1939. As the proprietor of the Scurry County Abstract Company, he remained a guiding light until his illness. His commitment to community was evident in his active membership in various clubs, including the Lions Club. Mrs. Brice's kindness and compassion earned her a revered place in several Snyder-based clubs, including the Scurry County Historical Survey Committee, leaving behind a lasting legacy of inspiration for generations to come. 💕
